The Blue Ocean
To find the blue ocean for BOSE in the fiercely competitive audio market while keeping the existing customer base, I designed a family of indoor noise-cancelling devices focusing on providing a quiet and comfortable atmosphere to let people concentrate on their work or enjoy their leisure.
Brand History
Bose is a technology-driven company that spent most of its effort developing cutting-edge acoustic technologies, and it is well known for its noise-canceling headphones.
Noise-canceling Technology
An outward-facing microphone detects external sound. The headphone then counter it with equal anti-noise, cancelling the external sound before you hear it.
Not for music but for wellness
Bose launched the first pair of SLEEPBUDS™ in 2018, which does not play music but only focuses on noise insulating, to give people a better sleep.
The existence of this product shows a trend that people care about their wellness more and a smart way to promote the famous noise-cancelling technology into other markets.
The concept was to push their well known noise-cancelling technology
to the next level, to make it their core selling point.
Therefore, I decided to launch a new BOSE division, BOSE insulation lab, a brand new BOSE division which only focuses on providing the best noise insulation products.
Development Plan
The plan for the early stage was to develop three products for different scenarios:

(approximate 400ft²). It can reduce
all range of noise.
SoundConditioner©Focus:
It is portable and it is for small space(under 25ft²). It is the ideal product to carry to a noisy cafe.
SoundConditioner©EA:
EA stands for electric appliances. This device aims to insulate all the
high pitch noises from machines.
